(1) The commission may conduct joint or separate preliminary examination for any post of any service, group and sub-group specified by the Commission. However, the Commission may waive the preliminary examination for the posts designated for a specific competition without requiring the preliminary examination.
(2) The Commission shall publish an advertisement disclosing the necessary details for the preliminary examination as per sub-section (1).
(3) If the preliminary examination as per sub-section (1) is conducted, only the person who passes such examination can be a candidate for the vacant post to be filled by open competition of the relevant service, group and sub-group.
(4) A person who has passed the preliminary examination may be a candidate for a vacant post filled by open competition in the relevant service, group and sub-group without exceeding the prescribed age limit for being a candidate in accordance with the prevailing law on service conditions for a period determined by the Commission from the date of passing the said examination.
(5) The preliminary examination shall be as prescribed by the commission and other arrangements.
